3: The Walking Dead S04E14 – “The Grove”

In the third episode of this weekly bite-sized WALKING DEAD post-mortem, Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg (DOC OF THE DEAD; ZOMBIEMANIA; “Zombies in Popular Media” at the University of Baltimore; world renowned zombie expert) reviews this week’s devastating episode, “The Grove!” Some barbecued Walkers (that probably wandered by Beth and Daryl’s cookout) pop by for a visit, while Carol and Tyreese are left reeling when Lizzie loses it once and for all. Oh wait, we didn’t mention Mika or Judith, did we? Where are they…never mind, just look at the flowers.

Find out what was good, what wasn’t so good, and what sort of grade the Doctor thinks the episode deserves. With G2V Podcast producer and co-host Scott Woodard!

Okay, how pathetic is it that I did NOT see this coming? I’ve never read the comics, but after listening to all the hints you mention, I probably should have guessed. I guess I just like to be led through the story and not think too much. I’ll do all the agonizing afterwards. :-)

OMG, stop telling me how obvious this episode was [still listening to the podcast]!!! I’m having some real inadequacy issues right now! ;-)

  • Arnold T. Blumberg

No, no, don’t feel that way! :) I even decided in the latest episode to raise this one’s grade from C+ all the way to A-. I realized after seeing it a couple more times that *regardless* of knowing the comic book parallels, and regardless of any of the things I thought might have seemed obvious at the time, its impact mitigates all of that. So you’re fine, really! :)

      Okay, good. Phew! :-)

Those guest comments above are mine, btw. I don’t know why they didn’t post here under your comment, nor why I’m identified as “guest.”
