Episode 1: House on Haunted Hill (1959)

The more things change…

Natalie (The “Accidental Hellraiser Scholar”) and Arnold (The “Doctor of the Dead”) begin a new era in podcasting with an inaugural episode devoted to one of their all-time favorite horror movies, the seminal suspense classic from William Castle, 1959’s HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL! Join Vincent Price, Carol Ohmart, and the guests at the historic Ennis House for an evening of food, drink, ghosts, and a plucky skeleton named “Emergo!” And when that night is over, stick around for the regrettable follow-ups, the 1999 remake of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, and the truly frightening (in a bad way) 2007 sequel, RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL!

And remember, when you’re listening to this podcast, the only ghoul in the house…is YOU!

DOCTOR OF THE DEAD Episode 117: Beyond Re-Animator and Little Monsters

Natalie and Arnold wrap up a trilogy of transgressive terrors with the final (for now) installment in the Herbert West saga, BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR! Reunite once again with West (Jeffrey Combs), meet his new over-eager assistant, and wonder aloud how many of the remaining Spanish cast were on break from making adult films. Also in this episode: Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o battles her way through a zombie horde to save a group of Australian children on a school trip gone horrible awry in LITTLE MONSTERS! It’s time yet again for reagent and raging zombies on the LAST episode of the DOCTOR OF THE DEAD podcast!

WHAT? You read that right! It’s the end, but the moment has been prepared for; before the movie chat, your favorite ghouls in the house tell you all about the podcast that will take DOTD’s place, so be sure to follow all the ATB Publishing social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with the latest on when GHOULS IN THE HOUSE will debut!

Reunite with West (Jeffrey Combs) and Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott), and meet a bunch of dumb new characters that make all the wrong choices in life and death. Natalie and Arnold launch into another horror series retrospective just in time for the best month of the year! In this episode, they kick off a three-part look at the RE-ANIMATOR films with the legendary original from 1985. Find out why Arnold believes Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) is like Michael Corleone, why Natalie sees Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) as the perfect foil for West, and what they both think about that scene with Meg (Barbara Crampton) and Dr. Hill (David Gale). It’s time for reagent, raging zombies, and randy heads on the latest episode of the DOCTOR OF THE DEAD podcast!

DOCTOR OF THE DEAD Episode 114: A Series Retrospective, Part 4: Scream 4

It took six months – life and work got in the way – but Natalie and Arnold are back to finally wrap up their retrospective of one of the most successful slasher film franchises of all time with their look at SCREAM 4, the 2011 return that also sadly became Wes Craven’s final directorial effort. What was great about the fourth and possibly final installment in the series? What wasn’t so great? And what could have been, if only they had been brave and clever enough to come up with Natalie’s alternate ending, presented here for your entertainment and edification?

DOCTOR OF THE DEAD Episode 113: A Series Retrospective, Part 3: Scream 3

Natalie and Arnold upgrade their mic and present an epic conversation about SCREAM 3, the 2000 installment in the series that – for a time – served as the concluding chapter in the SCREAM trilogy…until they made a fourth one. What was great about this third film? What wasn’t so great? Who could have died from the “Big Three?” And will Natalie ever truly get over Randy’s death in SCREAM 2? (The answer to that last one is “NEVER.”)

Is it worthy of the original? And what does Natalie have to say in particular about Randy’s role in the first follow-up? Find out here!

In this episode, they talk about the series’ second timeline, with Laurie Strode returning for HALLOWEEN H20 and a bit of HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION.
